Stay Here
in early 2018, i had the opportunity to provide main titles and graphics for the NETFLIX series “Stay Here”.
the show centered around renovating vacation rentals in cities around the United States.
i started by creating the show’s graphic identity, including logotype and colour palette, working with the producers to tie in thematic elements of the show in a subtle way. the identity was used extensively by NETFLIX to market the show.
i then used the identity to produce a main title sequence in accordance with examples provided by the production team. the focus was to have the sense of swiping images, similar to a social media experience, or how a user might navigate information on a vacation rental site. to that end, i created extensive modular templates so that AEs and editors could adjust elements without requiring extensive redesign.
several other similar GFX sequences were created for use throughout the series, all stylistically cohesive to create a polished feel.
as the project progressed, i was asked to create 3D visualisations of various modifications to structure and design of the properites. this was achieved by building 3D mockups of the buildings via production photos and limited blueprints, and then working with producers to visualise the changes in realtime.
though i had a limited timeline to create the graphics for Stay Here, i feel that the finished product adds quite a bit of style and flash to the series. television has its own unique set of challenges and standards, and it’s fun to work within those constraints!
